Sunyani, (B/A) April 5, GNA - The Chief Executive Officer of B.A. United FC, Mr Ransford Kofi Antwi, has commended supporters of the Club for their massive attendance at last Sunday's 93Zone 1 B" Divisio= n One League match between United and arch rivals, Tano Bofoakwa at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The match ended in a goalless draw.
Mr Antwi who was speaking with the GNA Sports in Sunyani on Monday also praised the players and the technical team for giving of their best during the match.
"Although our ultimate aim for the match was to win, things could not work for us that way but that does not mean management should be oblivious of the good performance of the players, particularly goalkeeper Kwame Ntow, who endeared himself to the spectators with his spectacular saves", he said.
BA United, formerly a Premier League and described as 93Apostles of Power Soccer" lost their accolade and are now campaigning in the First Division.
The Chief Executive urged the supporters to sustain the "appreciable attendance" in subsequent matches of the club, saying that was another way of financially supporting the growth of the Club. Mr Antwi noted that since the Club was relegated from the Premier League, the Coronation Park had been 93starved" of good attendance, apparently because 93your darling club is no more in the elite division."
"I think it will not be an over-statement to say that the performance of the players last Sunday will encourage our teeming supporters to continue to support the Club in diverse ways", he added. The CEO noted that the outcome of the match indicated that 93it was a really titanic encounter as both sides, playing before their home supporters, proved stubborn to each other in all departments of the game throughout the 90 minutes".
He particularly mentioned the spectacular exploits of the two goalkeepers, saying 93they surely need a pat on their shoulders for their exemplary display of skills in the posts". Mr Antwi stressed that B.A. United, as the traditional club of the Region, was on record as being the first side to win the national Knock-out Cup and this should ginger enthusiastic football fans to continue to support it to regain its former glory and play in the Premier League.
