Ghana defender Baba Rahman is likely to fly to London to undergo medicals with Chelsea in the coming days as Augsburg seem to be preparing for life without the full-back.
The 21-year-old versatile lateral defender is set to fly to West London for medicals ahead of a proposed €25 million switch to the Stamford Bridge.
Though Augsburg have not officially made a statement on the transfer, Rahman’s agent Sascha Empacher has confirmed the Premier League champions have made the offer.
In what appears to be a readiness to sell the former Asante Kotoko defender, Augsburg conspicuously left him out of their squad that played against French Ligue 1 side Toulouse on Saturday afternoon.
Following Filipe Luís’ sale to Atlético Madrid after just one season at the Stamford Bridge, José Mourinho has stepped up his search for a replacement left-back this week.
Augsburg rejected an initial offer of around €20m (£14m) for the player they signed from Greuther Fürth only last summer for £1m but are now poised to agree to the transfer, which also contains significant bonuses.
