Accra, Aug. 17, GNA - Alhaji Rashid Bawa, Minister of State in charge of Youth and Sports has sent congratulatory message to the National Under-23 team, the Black Meteors for their sterling performance against Paraguay last Sunday at the Olympic Games in Athens Greece.
In statement copied to the GNA Sports, he described the victory as a spectacular one, which has brought joy to all Ghanaians.
He said the victory has also rekindled the confidence of Ghanaians in the team's ability to qualify for the next stage of the competition. The Minister said the expectations of Ghanaians are high as the team prepare to take on Japan in their next match.
He urged the team to let the victory spur them on to clinch another sterling performance against the Asians tomorrow.
The Meteors last Sunday came from a goal down deficit to beat Paraguay in their second game at the Olympic Games 2-1 with the two goals coming from William Tierro and star player, Stephen Appiah.
