Bechem United have announced plans to travel to the United Arab Emirates as part of preparations ahead of the new season. The Ghana Premier League side will spend eleven days in the Gulf region and will play several exhibition matches to adequately prepare for the new campaign after narrowly escaping relegation in the just-ended season.

Club president, Kingsley Owusu-Achew, believes the Brong Ahafo-based side need foreign exposure to prepare for the new season and build a global recognition.

“We are heading towards United Arab Emirates for the preseason," Owusu- Achew told reporters. “We nearly got relegated after a wonderful season preceding it so after surviving the scare, we believe that our players need the exposure out there and tougher competitions.

“We are starting with Dubai and Bechem United will take it from there to rebuild its global recognition.

Goal understands that 18 players and three officials will leave the shores of Ghana on Friday after securing visas and other necessary equipments. The club have previously taken part in the Trofeo Karol as well as Romeo and Juliet tournaments in Italy where Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah and Bologna's Godfred Donsah were both discovered.

Bechem United finished 13th last season in a 16-team league and survived relegation with only a point above the drop zone.
