Ben Koufie To Stay On As GFA Boss

... Executive Council Extends His Mandate
... Why the delay in Nominating GFA Chairman?

The executive Council of Ghana Football Association has extended the period of expiration of the current management headed by Ben Koufie to March 2004. The decision was reached at the Council’s meeting held yesterday in Accra. The three year term of the Executive Council, management Board and the 16 committees should have ended at the ending of December 2003.

An impeccable source at the FA made the disclosure to SPACE FM said the decision is in line with the Statues and regulations of GFA. He cited Article 7 (1) of the GFA regulations to back his case. The Article provides that;

    “The football season shall cover a period of ten months starting from March to December. The GFA Executive Council may for good cause extend or shorten the period. And it shall have the power to suspend the league temporarily or abridge it.“
According to the source, the good reason for the extension stems from the fact that government has not yet nominated anybody for the post of F.A. chairmanship. And now that Ghana is engaged in more assignments it is only wise to extend the period until F.A goes to Congress in March.
