Berekum Arsenals have been charged with two counts of misconduct following their GN Bank Division One League match against Real Tamale United in Berekum.
Reports from Berekum say the center referee was physically and verbally assaulted by fans of Berekum Arsenal after the game.
In addition to the charges, the fans of the home side invaded the field a few minutes into the second half which halted the game for close to five minutes
“That on or about the 60th of the match when Assistant Referee 2 flagged for an offside, your supporters entered the inner perimeter and invaded the field of play without the permission and consent of the Match Referee.
That your supporters chased Assistant Referee 2, Adamu H. Yahaya to the center of the park in an attempt to physically assault him resulting in about five (5) minutes hold up of play contrary to the stipulations of the regulations,” a statement issues by the Ghana FA explained the first charge of Berekum Arsenal.
The second act of misconduct by Berekum Arsenal is their fans’ attack on the center referee leading to the loss of some personal properties.
“That immediately after the referee whistled for the end of the match you failed to control your supporters of your club when they attacked the match officials physically and verbally causing bodily harm to them (also missing properties including the referees watch and whistle).
That the behaviour of your supporters resulted in the match officials being held hostage for about forty (40) minutes before the security personnel could rescue them out of the park, contrary to the stipulations of the GFA Regulations.”
Berekum Arsenal have up to 10th March to respond to these charges.
