La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have loaned out youngster Bernard Mensah to Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes for the new season.
The Ghana international heads back to Portugal after struggling for first-team football at Vicente Calderon Stadium.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Los Colchoneros last summer from Guimaraes on a six-year deal but was immediately sent out on loan to fellow La Liga outfit Getafe.
"Atletico Madrid has reached an agreement with Vitoria de Guimaraes for the loan of Bernard Mensah to the Portuguese team for a season, until June of 2017," Atletico announced on their official website.
"The Ghanaian midfielder joined our club last summer of 2015 from Vitoria Guimaraes, although he played loan in Getafe.
"Now, he will seek to continue with minutes that will allow him to continue with his projection in a stage in which we wish him good luck and much success."
Mensah made eight substitute league appearances with Getafe but failed to make a single start.
He has earned three caps and a goal for Ghana.
