Black Queens progress in Olympics qualifiers

Ghana advanced in the qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games with the Black Queens routing Guinea 5-1 on Saturday in Accra.

Going into the clash at the El-Wak Stadium with a comfortable 2-0 first leg win, the senior women’s team dispatched their opponents to complete a 7-1 aggregate victory.

The Guineans were undone in the first half through an own goal as Ghana captain, Florence Okoe followed up to increase the Black Queens’ lead.

Ekua Sika, Agnes Aduafo and Safia Ramat all scored to secure Ghana the win and a place in the next round of qualifying.

The Black Queens missed out of the 2008 Beijing Olympics after losing in the final play-off fixture to Brazil but are determined to ensure that they make a historic Olympic appearance at next year’s Games.
