Ghana’s bid to reach the Africa Youth Championship suffered a huge blow after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to the Young Lions of Senegal in Dakar.

Mas-Ud Dramani put up a strong side for the game but will be left disappointed after his side was well and truly beaten by the Senegalese in all department of the game.

Asante Kotoko’s Dauda Mohammed was leading the attack but that did little to deter the Lions who were full of energy and deserved their victory.

Even though Dauda Mohammed was on the field it was his strike partner Jonathan Osabutey who scored what turned out to be a face saving goal for coach Mas-U Dramani's men who were clearly second best on the day.

Senegalese promising striker Niang scored twice to give the home side the lead before the third goal sealed a commanding victory.

The Black Satellites needed two goals to see of the Ethiopians in the last round of qualifiers and did so in grand style, now they will have to reproduce the same level of efficiency and effectiveness to see off their Senegalese counterparts in a fortnight's time.

The team is expected to arrive back in Ghana in the next 48 hours to begin preparations for the second leg.
