Black Starlets beat Dwarfs in a friendly

Cape Coast, August 12, GNA -- Ghana's Black Starlets made light work of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs when they beat them 2-0 in a friendly soccer match played at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium on Friday. The match which forms part of Dwarfs preparations towards the 2006 Premier League soccer season exposed the clubs weakness in goal scoring. Dwarfs proved stubborn in the first half and matched their opponents boot to boot to end the first half goalless.

The Starlets who paraded players like Benjamin Owusu, Samuel Arhin, Osei Ransford, Abass Bundi, Kenneth Owusu and Francis Kofi resumed the second half strongly and kept the Dwarfs vital area boiling but had to wait till the 65th minute when midfielder, Francis Kofi scored the opener.

The players superb ball control and inter positional exchanges drew applause from the sparse crowd throughout the game.

Dwarfs who forced two corners kicks in a row but failed to utilize them nearly equalized in the 75th minute but outside right, Mohammed Malik, with only the goalkeeper to score, shot over the bar.

The hopes of Dwarfs to level the scores were dashed when substitute, Abass Bundi rounded up two defenders to raise his side's goal tally to 2-0 in the 89th minute. 12 Aug. 06
