C/R Division Two League to start on Sept. 18

Cape Coast, Sept. 7, GNA - The Central Region Division Two League would commence at all league centres on September 18. Mr Mathew Doe, Chairman of the Regional Football Association announced this on Tuesday at a meeting with representatives of the Clubs at Cape Coast.

He said the Region would be divided into four zones for the 2005 league season and that two clubs from each zone shall qualify for the sub-middle league to take part in an 'all-play-all' competition. Mr Doe said the finals would be played between the champions from the two groups with the winner representing the Region in Division One while the runners-up would play in the knock-out competition for the 2006 League season.

The Regional Chairman commended the club representatives for attending and comporting themselves at the meeting but expressed concern about their lateness to meetings and warned that henceforth late-comers to meetings would be liable to a 50,000 cedis fine.

He said he hoped that the members would also comport themselves and assist in ensuring a successful league while advising against regarding opposing clubs as their enemies and influencing referees in their clubs' favour.
