A member of Ghana’s African Nations Cup winning squad of 1965, Rev. Osei Kofi says that the Ghana Football Association should end the suspension spell of AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari and include him in Ghana’s 2015 African Nations Cup squad.
The AC Milan midfielder was dismissed from the Stars’ camp in Brazil during the World Cup in 2014, for physically assaulting Moses Armah Parker, who was a management member of the Black Stars.
The former Liberty Professionals player is yet to apologize formally to the GFA and remains on indefinite suspension from the Black Stars.
Osei Kofi however told Kumasi-based Sikka FM that the GFA should reconsider their decision to maintain the Muntari suspension, especially with his impressive performances for AC Milan.
“We should call the boy (Muntari) for the AFCON. He is a great asset and will help the team looking at his current performance for AC Milan. I’m not saying what he did was right. It is true that he erred but even Maradona misbehaved during his days. So we should look at it again. If the stadium is filled with spectators and there are no players on the field, the game cannot go on. So every stakeholder of the game is important.”
