Canadian side Fury sign Hamza Elias

Canadian side Ottawa Fury FC have completed the signing of young Ghanaian midfielder Hamza Elias on a one-year contract.

The 20-year-old moves from Kumasi-based second division side played for Ghanaian midfielder FC Platini Kumasi.

Discovered by a scouting group at a combine that included scouts from Braga, Porto and Monaco, the Ghanaian Premier League prospect elected to join the North American Soccer League expansion club.

“It is the biggest privilege for a young player like me to join such a professional club like Fury FC,” said Elias.

“I know that with God’s help and a lot of hard work, discipline, determination and dedication that I can help bring the team to a different standard.”

At 5-foot-8, he spent the 2012-13 season with Ghanaian Second Division side FC Platini Kumasi after spending three seasons in the Ghanaian Premier League, split between Medeama FC and Kessben FC.

In 2007, the native of Accra was named to Ghana’s U17 National Team.

“We met Hamza through a scout that works closely with us and also with the European and African markets,” said Fury FC coach Marc Dos Santos.

“He’s a very dynamic midfielder who works extremely hard for the team.

“Hamza could play in every position of the midfield. He’s also very young, so our staff will have room to build him into the player we believe he will become.”
