Accra, Oct. 5, GNA – Steve Pollack, head coach of defending League champions, Berekum Chelsea FC has said his outfit would not be a walk-over in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League competition next year.
Chelsea would be making their maiden appearance at the continental competition next year after winning the Ghana premiership this year.
Addressing the press during the formal out-dooring of newly recruited players of the Club in Accra on Wednesday, coach Pollack said the Club has the needed quality to make the desired impact on the continental scene.
“We have quality players who have had international exposure and capable of projecting the image of Ghana on the continental stage.
“We are therefore determined to restore the image of Ghana on the continental scene. We shall make Ghana proud once again because we have a combination of experienced and youthful players who are capable of taking on any opponent on the continent.” The coach stated.
Commenting on the League, the coach said Chelsea was determined to retain the title even though he considered it would be a difficult task, because all the Clubs have prepared adequately for the competition.
He said the Club had over the years developed the needed temperament for competitions and would utilize this rich experience to achieve their dreams of winning the League for the second time.
Coach Pollack, however, noted that the direction of the League would be determined after the first seven matches and their aim was to ensure that they pick the maximum points from the matches.
He said they would not be complacent but will be focused on their mission of conquering the local and international scene.
The coach added that the technical team was bent on moulding the team into a formidable side.
