Christian Atsu blames bad Port Gentil pitch to team’s defeat to Egypt

Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has attributed the team’s defeat to Egypt to the poor nature of the pitch.

Ghana lost 1-0 to Egypt to finish second in Group D behind the seven-time Champions.

The Black Stars were hoping to maintain their top spot in the Group having won against Uganda and Mali.

Atsu who was impressive on the day seemed to have been let down on few occasions by the poor nature of the field.

“It was a good game, we are hoping to win but it didn’t happen, the pitch was not good and it affected our play,” he told reporters.

“Playing on it was very difficult and it affected us but we have to look forward to the next game, we have to prepare and hope to get a better result.”

Ghana will take on DR Congo in the quarterfinal at the Stade de Oyem on Sunday.
