The Minister for Youth and Sports, Papa Owusu-Ankomah has directed all premier league clubs to present their annual accounts to the Auditor General’s department as a precondition for their participation in the premier league.
The clubs must also submit their annual returns to the registrar general’s department by the end of next month as a precondition for their continued participation in the premiership.
Though football clubs went professional some eight years ago, their administrative set-up does not represent their professional status.
Most of the clubs have not been able to attract corporate sponsors because they still run their clubs in ways that can be best described as unprofessional.
They have failed all these years to submit their returns to the appropriate quarters as business organisations are run.
The former Youth and Sports Minister, E.T. Mensah who spearheaded the professionalism of the premiership’s call for all clubs to be listed on the stock market has since not yielded any positive results.
