Coach Addo accepts responsibility for Stars unfamiliarboutput

Wad Madany, Sudan, Feb. 14, GNA - Local Black Stars coach has accepted responsibility for the team's unexpected exit from the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN) underway in Sudan.

The Stars bowed out with losses from all three games at the group phase to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger, serving as the worst ever performance by a Ghanaian national team at a major championships in recent times.

"The team is very young and they have not played

together for a long time." Coach Addo told GNA Sports in a

post match interview in Wad Madany, Sudan on Sunday. Coach Addo said the compatibility of the pitch greatly

affected his team;s performance just as the constant loss of

concentration by his team at critical moments of the games. "Two mistakes against South Africa, another against

Zimbabwe and then against Niger, it was the same thing." The Aduana Stars head coach admitted that his side

played their best game against Niger but was unfortunate to

end up on the losing side. The Stars finished at the foot of the Group B ladder with

no point, Zimbabwe on three, Niger on six and the surprise

packets South Africa with nine points. The local Black Stars were losing finalists at the maiden

edition held in 2009 in Cote d'Ivoire.
