Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says the competition for places in the Black Stars is fierce. He told footyghana.com that every player used by head coach Goran Stevanovic proves his worth, adding that no one is guaranteed a starting place anymore.
‘Nowadays, any player selected plays well and that has increased competition. I like it because it makes all of us serious, since no one is guaranteed a place in the starting line up.’
Agyemang Badu also told footyghana.com that Ghana’s group at the forthcoming 2012 African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, which contains the likes of Botswana, Guinea and Mali is a tricky one, adding that no team could be referred to as minnows.
‘Some people say that Botswana will be minnows, but football has changed and there are no minnows anymore. Even though this is not a group of death, it is a very tricky group and unless we do our homework well, we could be surprised.’
The ex-Berekum Arsenal and Asante Kotoko midfielder believes that the Black Stars has improved as a team.
‘We are very strong and united as a team. We had a very good qualifying campaign and if you can go unbeaten during qualifiers, it tells you that we have improved as a team.’
