Corners Win Protest

Kumasi Cornerstone boosted their chances of qualifying for the Division One sub-middle league when they won a protest against Great Ashantis for fielding an unqualified player in their Zone Two A league match.

The match ended in a draw.

Following the decision of the GFA Disciplinary Committee at its sitting last week, Cornerstone were credited with two additional points thus putting them in pole position with 26 points.

In a similar vein, Catholic Stars won their protest against Morin Stars while Yeji Stars also won their protest against Mighty Rocks over the use of an unqualified player.

In other cases, Shooting Stars also had their protest against Bimbilla Nationals upheld by the Disciplinary Committee while Farisco’s protest against Gold Stars was dismissed.

Bronkyempem, however, withdrew their protest against Kintampo United at the last hour.

According to sources, the only protest case left between Home Stars and Vora was fixed for hearing yesterday while a few outstanding appeal cases will be heard today.

They include Boca Juniors versus Kwamax, Boca Juniors versus Kintampo United and Khalid versus Home Stars. Meanwhile, Eleven Wise’s appeal against Feyenoord Academy has been dismissed.

From the foregoing, it is obvious that the Division One League’s final matches will be cleared this week.
