Accra, Aug 31, GNA - The Cranes of Uganda arrived in Accra on Wednesday morning ahead of the critical World Cup qualifier against Ghana's Black Stars and are said to be seriously plotting the fall of their host.
The Ugandans who are walloping at the bottom of the six-country table say they are poised to upset the Ghanaians who are currently topping the table with 15 points.
The visitors are to have their first training late Wednesday at the Legon Park and have told the GNA Sports that " their desire is to cause the biggest upset" when they play as guest of the Ghanaians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, September 4. The Cranes drew one all with the Stars in the first leg encounter in Uganda and they intend to draw inspiration from that performance come Sunday. The Stars also approach the match in 'a must win' situation in the duel, which would either make or mar their chances of a debut World Cup appearance in Germany next summer. The Ghanaians are expected to pick the last six points against Uganda and Cape Verde to pick the sole slot in the group, which has South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burkina Faso. The last time the two teams met at Kumasi, it was the Ugandans who nearly stole the show when they took an early lead only for the Ghanaians to pull even through Charles Amoah's strike. That was in a Nation' Cup qualifier when German coach Bukhard Ziese was in charge of the Stars. Ghana has lost once, drawn thrice and won thrice since the qualifiers commenced last year.
