Damba appointed Hearts goalie trainer

Accra, Dec. 21, GNA - The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has beefed up their technical team with the appointment of ex-Black Stars shot-stopper Abukari Damba as the goalkeepers' trainer of the club. Damba has been handed an initial three-month contract and replaces Archie Sellas who parted ways with the Phobians a few weeks ago.

The 42-year old ex-goalie told GNA Sports in Accra on Tuesday that he has assumed his new role and is looking forward to making a huge impact during his three-month stay to regularize his stay with the club. The Hearts role is the first for Damba since quitting Division One sid= e Bechem FC in May 2009.

After making his debut with Real Tamale United in 1984, he also enjoye= d successful stints with Accra Great Olympics and Malaysian sides Perak FC an= d Selangor V.M.

Damba has also been the goal keeper trainer for the Black Meteors and Starlets, Power FC as well Perak FC as a coach cum goalkeeper trainer. Regarded as one of finest goalkeepers in Ghana's football history, h= e also featured for the Black Stars from 1984 till 1990.
