Ex-Back Stars goalkeeper Abukari Damba says coach Avram Grant’s decision to drop Aduana Stars gloves man Stephen Adams from his Africa Cup of Nations squad was spot on.
Stephen Adams was ahead of Fatau Dauda during the Nations Cup qualifiers but was surprisingly axed from the provisional squad that is currently in Spain for a ten-day pre-tournament camping.
Damba who has been huge critic of Adams since his performance against Guinea in Tamale says he lacks the quality to man post for the national team.
“The active goalkeepers currently with the team are Razak Braimah and Ernest Sowah, so if he went for Fatau Dauda that is in the right direction.
Fatau has been there before, he was with the team during the last edition of the African Cup of Nations was in post during the World Cup so why drop him instead of Adams,” the ex-Ghana was quoted by Sportscrusader.com
Adams was a member of Ghana’s squad which won silver at the 2014 African Nations Championship finals in South Africa and was an unused substitute at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
