Daniel Amartey to undergo FC Copenhagen medical

Ghana youth international Daniel Amartey is set to undergo a medical at Danish side FC Copenhagen and complete his transfer from Swedish side Djurgarden IF, Africanfootball.com has exclusively reported.

The 19-year-old left the club’s training ground in Dalarna on Wednesday afternoon to finalize his move.

Amartey, a midfielder-cum-defender, was previously linked with English Premier League giants Liverpool as excelling in his first year abroad.

“We are satisfied with the terms of the transfer, the bid was the best we got. The deal provides a necessary supplement to the club’s finances,” Djurgarden CEO Henrik Berggren said.

“Of course it’s a sporting setback for Daniel to leave us but we’ve been prepared for that. We have a fundamentally good squad that we have great confidence.”

Amartey, a former Inter Allies player, first came to Djurgarden in 2011 and trained with the first team but played for the U21 side.

When he turned 18 last year, he signed a professional contract and we went on to make 23 appearances on his debut season.

It could have been more had it not been for a face injury is suffered in the course of the season.

Amartey made 11 appearances for Djurgarden in the Swedish top-flight before it went on a break.
