Black Stars deputy captain Andre Ayew won both the Sports Personality of the year and the footballer of the year awards at the 41st MTN SWAG awards on Saturday night.
The 26-year-old scooped both awards following his outstanding display for both Club and country.
Ayew was arguably Ghana’s best footballer in the year 2015 after helping the Black Stars to a second place finish at the Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, a tournament he finished as the top scorer after netting three times for the Black Stars.
The Swansea City star beat off competition from fellow Black Stars teammates Asamoah Gyan and last year’s winner Harrison Afful to win the footballer of the year award.
Other award winners included Ashanti Gold captain Eric Opoku who was adjudged the Premier League player of the year by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.
Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan who missed out on the footballer of the year award was also given a special reward for his philanthropic work in the country.
Black Queens Coach Yusif Basigi who also doubles as the head coach of Sekodi Hasaacas and Hasaacas Ladies was named as the Coach of the year with Portia Boakye winning the female footballer of the year.
Male and Female Athletes of the year awards went to US-based duo Nadia Eke and John Ampomah respectively for their excellent feat at the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Richard Commey for the second time running won the professional boxer of the year accolade.
