Did Andre Ayew insult Akwasi Appiah?

Deep-throat sources at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have told Finder Sports in confidence that head coach of the Black Stars, James Akwasi Appiah, is planning to have showdown talks with midfielder Andre Ayew.

The Black Stars coach is said to be upset about the unprofessional attitude Andre exhibited during Ghana’s final 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi last weekend.

According to Finder Sports sources, the player is said to have asked the coach why he substituted him during the said game. The player is also alleged to have made insulting remarks directed at the coach when he was coming off the pitch after being substituted late in the second half of the Malawi game.

Close associates of the coach say he may be forced to leave the player out of the final squad for the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa unless the player renders an unqualified apology.

The GFA has in the past reiterated that it would not tolerate any form of indiscipline from the playing body, especially because of the long-held perception that foreign players do not respect local coaches.

Ghana will need all the unity/discipline it deserves if the dream of winning a fifth Nations Cup trophy in January 2013 is to become a reality.

The Black Stars will know their opponents for the Nations Cup at a draw to be held in Durban, South Africa, on October 24, 2012.
