Duncan drags Hearts to SSNIT over unpaid contributions

The banter between Hearts of Oak and David Duncan has taken a new twist as the trainer has reportedly asked the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to investigate unpaid contribution for the period he worked at the club, according to reports carried by Happy FM.

Happy FM claims Hearts failed to pay Duncan’s contributions to SSNIT, a report GHANAsoccernet.com cannot independently confirm.

Fellow Ghanaian Premier League side AshGold paid all of Duncan’s SSNIT entitlement when he coached the Miners four seasons ago and he is furious Hearts failed to pay his contributions.

According to Ghana’s employment regulations, all organisations are obliged to make monthly contributions to SSNIT for the retirement benefits of their employees, but most local companies flout this regulation.

If the matter is taken up by SSNIT, Hearts will spend considerable amount of time in the court room battling the coach over the issue.

However, Duncan has taken a bold step to openly fight the 2000 African champions over his entitlements after he was unduly dismissed by Hearts of Oak last November for a reason which is yet to be made public.

The two sides have a case pending at the Ghana Football Association after Hearts appealed against a decision by the body’s Status Committee ordering Hearts to pay the coach $40,000.

Most Hearts fans have openly gone public to support the coach to drill the 20-time Ghanaian champions, using appropriate channel to claim his entitlements from the club.
