David Duncan has said that his Olympic team are looking forward to the start of the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games with a home game against Sudan.
Ghana would host Sudan in the first leg of the second-round qualifying fixtures on Saturday at the Ohene Djan Stadium. Kick-off is at 16:00GMT (4:00pm local time).
And the task of returning the Black Meteors to the Olympic competition after Ghana missed out of the 2008 Beijing Games leaves Duncan with a rather daunting task though he remains excited with the challenge.
Apart from qualifying for London 2012, Duncan has also set his sights on a place in the finals of the All-African Games.
“I only need to focus and get my tactics right so that we will start the competition on a good note," the Black Meteors coach said.
“Our target is to go all out in both competitions and to achieve the ultimate in all competitions.”
The former U-17 coach revealed his players are excited about the prospect of playing at the Olympics and also making the grade to the senior team.
“My boys are ready and I know they will rise up to the occasion. They know this is a perfect and fine opportunity for them to establish themselves."
“They are also aware of the fact that a good showing at the U-23 level will give them a prospect of making it to the senior side”, Duncan stated.
A win for Ghana would be an added boost ahead of the return leg on the weekend of April 8-10 in Khartoum.
