Duya Repeats "Brazil Mistake"?

Iran is through to the semi-finals of the 2006 Asian Games, after a sweet revenge against China in the penalty shoot-out with 8-7. The score after 90 minutes of play was 1-1 and going into the penalty shoot-out it was 2-2.

What does this has to do with Ghana? Ghana's ex-coach Dujkovic is the head coach of the Chinese team and he adopted the same tactics that failed Ghana against Brazil at the world cup.

In an editorial, an Iranian newspaper wrote:

Any chance the game reminded you of the last 16 game between Brazil and Ghana in the 2006 World Cup? It did to me since Dujkovic again was head coach of one of the teams, one of the teams played ridiculously high with their defenders and the same team had to pay a heavy price for its offside tactics.

It was two different worlds facing each other and it was best visualized when the goals were scored. Iranian defenders traditionally fall deep very early, to cover the area behind them while they open up a big gap in front of them (when the midfielders are unable to keep the team as one unit). Dujkovic implemented the exact opposite, always keeping a short distance between the forwards, midfielders and the defenders, but paying a price that is inevitable namely defenders standing high up the field.
