Ghana cement big man E.K. Adu is the likely successor to Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula as the chairman of the Ghana football association the verdict has it on authority.
Out of the three names making the rounds E.K's pedigree in sports administration according to sources close to the presidency makes him the automatic choice ahead of Kojo Mensah Bonsu and Oheneba Charles of Kwaebibrim football club.
His track as once vice chairman of Ghana Football Association, sources say has enhanced his chances to chair arguably the hottest seat on the land.
Although the other two-Oheneba Charles and Kojo Bonsu have been in the thick of sporting activities to a credible source hinted verdict that the State House is not too enthused about their candidature for varied reasons.
In the case of Oheneba Charles it is argued that his present association with premiership side, Kwaebibrim raises some moral questions about his candidature although he qualifies for the job. Kojo Mensah Bonsu was the least option considered in the selection process.
His deep association with the immediate past government starts him on a wrong footing. Although the President has made an all inclusive government his central theme, close aides of the President say it certainly does not embrace NDC elements who in the estimation of the party have wrecked the country.
The pointer thus remains on E.K Adu who once chaired the Board of Directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club.
He is presently not attached to any club in any capacity although once a Kotoko man, he remains an ardent supporter of the one-time giant in Ghana Football-the Oseikrom lads. According to government sources, what could be another feather in the arm of the Adu choice is the fact that he presented a very fair accurate account of his stewardship as the Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Unlike his contemporary, George Adusei Poku who was seriously indicted in the Justice Gbadegbe Commission, E.K was not in any way cited in any player transfer deal during his tenure as Kotoko boss.
These are the strengths that the Minister in a consultation with other stake holders in government might have considered in the selection of E.K which is expected to be announced soon.
