Asamerik FC wins

Cape Coast, Nov.20, GNA - The unbeaten record of Elmina Coconut Grove Sharks, Central Region second division zone one league leaders was on Wednesday broken, when Cape Coast Asamerik FC inflicted a 2-1 defeat on them in their outstanding league match played at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Kicking off under the instruction of class one referee, Joshua Mensah who stamped his authority on the match Ebenezer Akompong scored the opener in the 13th minute.

Akompong, after collecting a pass from inside right, Joe Yeboah, sneaked through an off side trap set by Sharks to score.

Undaunted by this early set back, the league leaders pinned their opponents to their own half and in the 28th minute Abraham Simpson netted the equalizer. On resumption, Coconut Grove Sharks continued to pile pressure on their opponents but the able defence of Asamerik held them in check.

The Sharks made some changes in the 80th minute, but that did not deter Asamerik FC from increasing the tally to 2-1 through Joe Yeboah in the 86th minute.
