Stay Cool Cards Club defied all odds to beat E.T. Mensah's Stars by sixteen points in the 27th week of the Greater Accra Playing Cards League.
Stay Cool under the captainship of Oscar who is also the chairman of the Association jumped into the lead. Captain Oscar continued to pile the points for Stay Cool up to round thirty, drawing rounds of applause from the audience. E.T. Stars sensing danger doubled their efforts with some good card shuffling. Hard as they tried, E.T. Mensah's Stars could not level the scores as Stay Cool stayed cool exhibiting good marksmanship and track experience to win the encounter by sixteen points, at the final round. The win put Stay Cool at 15th position with 30 points whilst E. T. Mensah's Stars failed to narrow the gap between them and league leaders Mighty Jets.
The Mighty Jets versus Liquenders encounter also put spectators on their toes as players of bother sides exhibited flair and finesse in the game cantering home neck to neck.
But Alhaji Ismaila, the founder and captain of Mighty Jets showed extra brilliance to win the day for his side.
The win put Mighty Jets at the top of the League Table with 69 points. Magic Hands continued their winning spree with a good win over Guava Inn to move up to 5th position with 57 points, behind Dynasty and Liquenders who occupy the 3rd and 4th positions with the same points.
Rangers also beat Born Again to move up to the 16th position with 25 points.
Other results are as follows: Professionals 7th position lost to Bazooka 6th position Mighty Toppers also lost to Believers, and Dantu lost to Show Boys. Bottom of the league table club T.T. Stars gained a walkover over Trocadero Stars and Dynasty also had a walkover in their encounter against Dan Rose.
The competition, being sponsored by Ghana Breweries Limited, producers of ABC Lager, will not come on next week. According to the president of the Association, Alhaji Jide Sulley, the postponement is to allow both the executive members and players of the Association to troop to the Accra Sports Stadium in their numbers to cheer Accra Hearts of Oak in the final of finals of CAF champions league match. Meanwhile the Association on behalf of their sponsors wishes the Phobians the best of luck.
