Football analyst Ebo Appiah has descended heavily on the two biggest clubs in Ghana, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak for what he described as their “anyhow” approach to football and club management.

Ebo Appiah who was a pundit on Football 360 last Monday did not mince when words as he delivered a scathing rebuke of Kotoko and Hearts for their poor performance on and off the field over the past decade.

Kotoko and Hearts have both failed to win the domestic league in the last three seasons and have performed incredibly poor whenever they represented the country in continental competitions.

Hearts of Oak last won a major continental trophy in 2004 when they beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the maiden edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ebo Appiah addressing the general lack of competitiveness and poor club management by these clubs stated: “They [Kotoko and Hearts] don’t understand football, if you ask my personal opinion. Preparation precedes success. Those two teams they are not ready. You need people with a winning mentality. When you have built a house on sand, you will go faster than somebody who has built his house on a rock but it is only when the storms come. That Oak tree has no foundation. They don’t have a winning mentality to keep winning.”

Ebo Appiah further questioned the achievements of both clubs after several decades of existence.

“After so many years what can you hold and say this is Kotoko or this is Hearts? Nothing to show! No training pitch, no stadium, no club, no kits. Can you go out with your son and say you want to buy a kit for any of those two clubs?”

“They are just handling themselves anyhow that is why they are producing anyhow results,” Appiah maintained.

“I think that Kotoko and Hearts if they really want to rediscover themselves, they must agree that we are nowhere where we have to be, that is the first realization.”

Hearts of Oak suffered a humiliating defeat at Sogakope last Sunday when they were thrashed by WAFA 5-0 and currently remain third on the league table, while Kotoko were held at home by Great Olympics in their last league game and also remain fifth on the league table.
