Winneba (C/R) July 20 GNA - The Effutu Traditional Council on Wednesday presented six crates of eggs and a ram to the Under 17 National Team, the Black Starlets who are currently in camp at the Winneba Sport College.
The Omanhene of the Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII on behalf of the chiefs and people of the area presented the items to the team.
Nene Ghartey said the donation was in appreciation of the efforts of the team in qualifying for the world tournament and therefore urged them to train hard to win the World Cup for the country.
The head of the technical team, Coach David Duncan and the Director of the Sport College, Mr. Dominic Asabia who received the items thanked the Traditional Council for the presentation.
Mr. Asabia expressed his gratitude to the Omanhene for his personal interest in seeing to the promotion of the Sports College. Coach Duncan told the GNA Sports that five technical staff and 26 players are in camp undergoing intensive training and assured Ghanaians that the team would annex the World Trophy.
He said that the visits by Ministers of State, government officials and chiefs to the Starlets camp has inspired them to train hard. Coach Duncan lauded the training regimen in camp, which he said has put the boys in high spirits to achieve positive results.
Neenyi Kweku Mbri, Apofohene of Effutu Traditional Area and other sub-chiefs accompanied the Omanhene.
Neenyi Ghartey later presented 100,000 cedis to the authorities of the Sports College to purchase fuel to clear the weedy the Winneba Junction Roundabout.
