Eguavon Unfaced About Ghana

Ahead of the crucial game between the Black Stars and Nigeria, Head Coach of the Nigerian football team Augustin Eguavon has been talking tough. Nigeria is drawn in Group D alongside Ghana, Nigeria and Zimbabbwe and open the first game against their West African neighbours tomorrow at the Port Said stadium.

Speaking to Citi FM after training last night, Coach Eguavon stated that his prayer is to win emphatically against Ghana even though he reckons it will not be easy. Coach Eguavon who confessed his deep respect for Ghana, insisted that there is immense confidence by every Nigerian in the current squad and it gives him the indication that his boys will go through tomorrow.

Despite being without Austin Okocha, Nwankow Kanu and Garbra Lawal in tomorrows, Eguavon's advances that his hope in the young squad is undoubtable. Key striker John Utaka will also be missing in the squad since he received a red card in the qualifying game against Algeria which means that he will have to forfeit the first Nations Cup in order to fully serve his sentence, having missed the last qualfying game against Zimbabbwe.

Asked about the non-qualification for the World Cup finals, Coach Eguavon emphasised that though that was a bitter pill to swallow, he fonds consolation in the fact that his boys will make Nigeria proud in the Nations Cup competition.
