Emmanuel Quarshie laid to rest

1982 African Nations Cup winning captain, Emmanuel Quarshie was laid to rest over the weekend in Takoradi Quarshie lost his battle with throat cancer and died two months ago.

His funeral attracted many dignitaries from all walks of life; particularly from the world of football.

Quarshie was a member of Ghana’s squad that won the 1978 African Nations Cup and he also helped Hasaacas win the 1983 West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup in 1983.

The former forward also played for Egypt giants Zamalek, winning the 1984 African Champions Cup with them.

He also assisted Sellas Tetteh in taking the Black Starlets to the FIFA Under 17 World Cup semifinals in South Korea in 2007.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.
