Ernest Asante resumes scoring for Stabaek in Norway

Ghanaian international winger Ernest Asante rediscovered his scoring boots as he netted a glorious finish for Stabaek in their 4-1 battering of relegation-bound Mjøndalen in the Eliteserien on Saturday.

The 26-year-old scored the first goal for Bob Bradley’s men with a 13th-minute finish before assisting Ivorian Luc Kassi to wrap up the win in the 76th minute.

Asante, a former Manchester United trialist, had not scored in a league game since August 1 against Valerenga, and he used the relegation-bound side to reclaim his scoring confidence.

While he was embarking on his restoration at the Isachsen stadion and scoring his 9th goal of the campaign, former Schalke 04 midfielder Anthony Annan also started the game for Stabaek while former Liberty Professionals midfielder Kamal Issah was introduced as a 22nd minute replacement for Muhammed Keita who suffered an injury.

Asante’s form has been impressive and could draw attention from Ghana coach Avram Grant.
