Everton manager David Moyes is interested in recruiting Rennes striker Asamoah Gyan, according to reports in France.

Moyes is said to be an admirer of the talented forward, who struggled with injuries at Rennes last term.

Forced to manage through most of last season without a recognised striker, Moyes has made no secret of his desire to bolster his attacking options.

Rennes are said to be keen on keeping Gyan at the club, whilst the player himself admits he is expecting to stay with the French side.

He said: "I am relaxed about the link with Everton and am focusing on preparing myself for hopefully an injury-free season.

"Everton is a great club, and maybe one day I will play for them.

"You never know in football, but for me I am preparing to start the season with Rennes."
