FIFA official satisfied with Play Soccer Ghana

Accra, Feb 14, GNA - Feferico Addiechi, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has expressed satisfaction with the activities of Play Soccer Ghana (PSG), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO).

Addiechi who made the remarks when he paid a three-day working visit to Ghana at the invitation of Play Soccer, commended the organization for carrying out their basic responsibilities of giving quality social, health and soccer skills to children under their tutelage. He also asked children under the Play Soccer programme never to give up on their hopes of attaining higher standards in soccer and any other activities they find themselves in.

Addiechi arrived in Ghana last week to acquaint himself with activities of Play Soccer Ghana (PSG) as well as its partners, volunteers and children.

The visit also forms part of FIFA's 91Football for Hope Mission' which is targeted at giving hope to children at all levels, fighting poverty, stopping female genital mutilation and HIV/AIDS. Addiechi said that the 91Football for Hope Mission' is not aimed at making stars overnight but a systematic approach to build the future of the players.

He therefore charged the children to keep their spirits high in whatever situation they find themselves, adding that he hopes to see the children occupy responsible positions in the country in other areas as well.

Addiechi said FIFA will continue to support PSG and offer the needed advise for the development of the programme.

He said that during his three day visit he met officials of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008 and Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah - Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports. The three-day visit also took him to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons where he experienced first hand conditions of the inmates.
