Feyenoord's Coach relishes a better season

Accra, April 11, GNA- The "multi-system man", coach Sam Arday is relishing a better season for Feyenoord Academy for an improvement on their abysmal performance last season when they emerged as debutants in the Premiership.

Coach Arday's side narrowly escaped relegation in last year's structured zonal league and said he aims at improving upon their performance that saw them play all the nice football but in the end became fruitless without recording goals during the season. He told the GNA Sports that, "we desire building upon our performance in the last season to ensure a different Feyenoord this time round".

The former national coach said the technical team after evaluating the performance of the Club last season has mapped up some useful lessons to embark upon their quest to turn their fortunes around when the season gets underway on Sunday.

Feyenoord would be at home to new entrants Kade Hotspurs in a match of equals at the Swedru Park.

The coach explained that the promotion of six players from the second-generation team made up of a striker, two midfielders and three defenders to the senior team is among the measures to pep up the team for the up-coming season.

He said that he believes the exposure gained in the last premiership would serve as a good platform to the Club's pursuit whilst envisaging a more competitive season.

Coach Arday told the GNA Sports that his side is now a transformed and matured side and prayed for a level playing field to bring the best out of them.

"The quality of our game is very much enhanced and one can only wish there is an even playing field to enable us showcase what we are made of", he added.

To his critics who say the relatively young team plays more of "classroom" soccer than a professional game, the coach said " we believe in practicals as well- something that largely formed the basis of our review after the season. I can only wish those critics would have eyes to see the difference we bring along this time round".

The Gomoa Fetteh boys had a tougher assignment last season as debutants in the Premiership and could only manage to survive the relegation blues even though they played some of the best entertaining games in the season.
