Financial constraints hampering Kotoko's progress

Kumasi, April 3, GNA - The Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, Mr Kwame Baah-Nuako has identified financial constraints as the main problem hampering the team's progress in recent times.

"Our supporters are not trooping to the stadium to cheer the Club as they used to do and this has affected our financial base substantially". Mr Baah-Nuako expressed this concern to newsmen in Kumasi on Thursday on the dwindling fortunes of the Club and measures being instituted to address the challenges facing the Club.

The reaction also follows Kotoko's 0-2 defeat to Gamba All Blacks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday, and brings to three the number of matches Kotoko have so far lost at home since the commencement of the Glo Premier League.

The Communications Director conceded that Management owed some players of the Club and that his outfit was working hard to thrash out all outstanding bills and winning bonuses owed those players. He therefore appealed to the players to be committed to the team's cause on the field of play since the team could not afford loosing matches as the defending League Champion.

On Kotoko's CAF Champions League campaign against Ittihad Khemisset of Morocco which is scheduled for Sunday, Baah-Nuako expressed optimism about the team's chances.

"We have performed well in most of the away matches we have honoured this season and anticipate to continue with this trend when we meet Ittihad in Morocco", he insisted. 03 April 09
