Frank Nelson dismisses Prince Tagoe return talks

Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has dismissed claims Prince Tagoe is close to staging a return to the club.

Tagoe is rumoured to have begun training with the Phobians in view of joining the club ahead of the start of the new season.

The 27-year-old is officially on the books of Malaysian club Kelantan but talks are ongoing to cancel his contract over reasons yet to be made public.

The Ghana international was reported to be eyeing a move to an unnamed UAE club.

But then rumours are rife he has started training with Hearts of Oak in an initial move towards securing a return to the club.

But Hearts board member Frank Nelson says these rumours are untrue as the club has not even considered the option of offering a return to the striker.

“I have a heard a lot about this Prince Tagoe transfer issue but no one has so far spotted him at Hearts’ training grounds,” Nelson told Metro FM.

“And first of all it is the technical team that makes recommendations as to the players to sign and he must show something to the technical team.

“He might be looking to re-establish his career and I don’t think he has his eyes set on a return to Hearts.

“We all also know that the kind of monies earned outside Ghana cannot be matched here so perhaps he might have his mind set on re-launching his career elsewhere.

“We at Hearts of Oak have also so far not made any attempt to sign the player.”

Tagoe’s career has hit a snag following the cancellation of his contract with Turkish club Bursaspor in 2013.
