Frimpong grateful to Ghana FA boss for visit

Arsenal injured midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has expressed his gratitude to Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi after the latter visited him to check on his recovery.

Nyantakyi visited Frimpong in Accra on Thursday after as he is recovering after undergoing surgery following a ligament injury.

The on-loan Wolves midfielder was in Accra to continue with his recovery as he has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

This prompted the GFA to meet with the Arsenal player to assure him of the country's support as he recovers from the anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Frimpong, an ex-England youth international who has applied to switch nationality to play for Ghana, says such move by leaders of the federation is helpful.

"Thanks to the GFA President for the visit this afternoon. Little things that count," Frimpong tweeted.

Frimpong applied to the world governing body FIFA six months ago to switch national allegiances to enable him to play for Ghana.

Ghana FA boss assured the ex-England youth international that the federation is keenly pursuing his nationality switch to enable him play for the Black Stars.

But FIFA has asked the Ghana FA to provide more documents including letters from the Scottish, Northern Ireland and Wales FAs as Frimpong holds a British passport.

Nyantakyi assured the midfielder that the GFA is working hard to ensure that his nationality switch is approved.

Born in Ghana's capital Accra in 1992, Frimpong arrived in London as a youngster before joining Arsenal's youth academy aged nine.

The young star played for England's youth teams but has yet to represent the Three Lions at the senior level.

This means he is still eligible to play for Ghana - the country of his parents and the country of his birth.
