Accra, July 9, GNA- The soccer team of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Friday trounced their counterparts from the Prisons Service 3-1 to win the soccer event at the El-Wak Stadium in the Eighth Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) games.
The match, which was played to climax the sports festival involving five security organisations, saw GAF as the dominant side in the first half of the game and had all the three goals in the half to secure victory.
The soldiers opened the scores in the 30th minute of the game through Ferdinand Blankson who converted a penalty awarded by referee Ebenerzer Ferguson.
GAF did not relent in their efforts to secure an "insurance goal" and this, materialised in the 33rd minute when Adamu Mohamed pounced on a through ball to lob it over the keeper for the second goal. Blankson sealed the doom of Prisons when he combined perfectly with Mohamed to tap in the third goal in the 43rd minute.
Prisons woke up from slumber in the second half but it was rather too late for them as they only managed a consolation goal through Iddrisu Alhassan in the 54th minute though a spot kick.
