The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday sent a message of congratulations to Dr Sam Jonah, Chief Executive of Ashanti Goldfields, following his knighting by the Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of England and Head of the Commonwealth.
A release signed by Kofi Nsiah the General Secretary of the GFA and copied to GNA Sports, expressed full admiration of the enviable high honour to be conferred on him by the Queen of England adding that his hard work, dedicated service and his strive for excellence have distinguished and placed him among the highly honored men in the world.
"As a sportsman and a football fan, you are the brain behind the establishment of the first professional football club in this country-Obuasi Goldfields Sporting Club and greatly helped to develop and promote Ghana football."
It said the honour conferred on Dr Jonah came to them as no surprise but an appreciation of his real value. The General Secretary said Dr. Jonah has greatly helped to develop and promote football in the country as well as leading Ashanti Goldfields from Strength to strength.
