Accra, Aug 25, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has referred Takyi Arhin, Secretary of Berekum Arsenals Football Club to the Disciplinary Committee to answer charges of his alleged derogatory remarks of the premiership and other issues.
Arhin is said to have made several uncomplimentary remarks prior to the commencement of the soccer season last week and was said to have alleged that the pairings was aimed at kicking his club out of the elite Premier Division.
Kwakwu Ampim-Darko, Deputy General Secretary of the GFA in a release copied to the GNA Sports, disassociated the Association from the alleged utterances by the Secretary and advised lovers of the game to desist from such negative and unsporting campaign, which are aimed at sowing seeds of discord into the country's sport.
He said the Professional League Board and the GFA therefore denounce such pronouncements and disassociate themselves from such irresponsible, misguided and reckless comments from the secretary of Arsenals.
Mr Ampim-Darko further dished out claims of tribal sentiments and insinuations at the pre-match technical meeting prior to Arsenals' Premiership opener with Accra Hearts of Oak played at the Golden City Park at Berekum last Sunday.
The Deputy General Secretary recounted that the Arsenals capo was suspended for six months last season by the Disciplinary Committee for verbally assaulting referee Furguson at a pre-match meeting. Mr Ampim-Darko described the secretary as someone with the desire to bring up confusion, ethnicity and division into the organization and running of football in the country.
He said 93one wonders the motive behind your verbal attacks against personalities running football in the country=94, adding that incidentally FIFA abhors and vehemently frowns on such behaviours which are geared at fragmenting the unity, sportsmanship and cohesiveness that the sport has brought to the country.
Arsenals defeated Hearts 1-0 in an ill-tempered game overshadowed by series of pre-match insults from the host's officials. The Berekum lads play defending Champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko next when the league resumes on Sunday, September 3.
