GHAWSOLCA says no to FA

Accra, Sept 12, GNA - The Ghana Women Soccer League Clubs Association (GHAWSOLCA) has asked clubs under its umbrella not to release players invited into the camp of the national women team, the Black Queens, following what it described as discriminatory treatments from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

A statement signed by Philip de-Graft Johnson, Vice Chairman of GHAWSOLCA and copied to the GNA Sports said as stakeholders of the women game, the Association has resolved not to release their players to the national team.

Mr Johnson said the decision has been taken because the GFA has remained insensitive to the welfare of women soccer but have found it prudent to invite the association's players during national assignments. "Our women are not waste materials to be picked, used and dumped by the FA. When there is an assignment, the FA knows where to get the materials they have not contributed to".

The statement said the recent publication in the media quoting the FA of inviting 30 players for camping was an insult and disregard to the women's game and respect to the Association.

The Association wondered why the GFA did not deem it fit to at least inform the clubs about the invitation before the publication of the lists, even though the clubs remain the stakeholders of the women's game.

"Is it too much to demand for respect for the stakeholders on whose shoulders lie the responsibility of these girls on daily basis", it quizzed.

The FA on Monday invited 30 players for camping through a media publication, directing them to converge at the C.K. Gyamfi Sports College at Winneba to begin camping beginning Tuesday, September 13. GHAWSOLCA said it would fiercely resist every attempt by any group of person(s) to treat the players and clubs with contempt and tasked the FA to put a stop to such practices.

"As stakeholders, we feel sidelined and neglected and would not allow anyone to take decisions on our behalf. Its about time our feelings are heard, if indeed they want our players to feature for the national team".
