German based Ghanaian coach to help Black Stars

Kumasi, Dec. 27, GNA - A Germany based Ghanaian soccer coach, Michael Osei, has declared his intentions to help the technical handlers of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars if given the opportunity.

Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi, Coach Osei said Ghana's successful participatio at next year's FIFA World Cup Championship was dependent on a very good technical team, commitment of the players and total support from Ghanaians.

Coach Osei said with his stay in Germany for some years, he has become conversant with the German football philosophy and style of play and was willing to share his experience and knowledge with the technical handlers in overcoming the German National Team. He noted that Ghana's group comprising Germany, Serbia and Australia was a difficult one, however, he tipped the Black Stars to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

The coach advised the playing body to be focused and serious with the impending African Cup of Nations tournament in Angola since their ability to lift the Cup would ginger them on and also motivate them to go for glory at the World Cup.

Coach Osei described Ghana's Premier League as not encouraging and cited the lack of committed and quality players, as well as poor infrastructure at most of the centres. He appealed to Ghanaians living in the diaspora to come to the aid of the football sector by investing in the sport to help the nation raise more talented players.

Coach Osei, a former Asante Kotoko player bemoaned the current dwindling fortunes of his former club and said there was the need for proper management and professionalism in the team's activities to improve the situation.

He is currently coach of the reserved side of FSV Frankfurt, which plays in the German Bundesliga league.
