Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has hailed the 'tough mental attitude' of the Black Stars that helped them to beat Sudan 2-0 on Saturday to qualify 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars defied the capacity crowd at the Al Merreikh Stadium in Omdurman to win the game despite playing with ten men.
The result means Ghana finished top of Group I and qualify for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
The Ghana FA chief says the toughness of his players and technical team helped the side to reach the continent's flagship tournament.
"The tough mental attitude of the players and coach is what has helped us to qualify," Nyantakyi told MTNFootball.com in Omdurman.
"I want to thank the players and the technical team for the achievement. Ghana is proud of them.
"We were faced with the extreme difficulty of playing the match in 50 degrees celcious and a very partisan and hostile crowd yet we emerged victorious.
"The players were very tough, the coach was very tough and they were backed by a mentally tough management team.
"All of these people must take credit for our qualification as well as our fans who offered prayers for us to qualify."
After six rounds, Ghana have 16 points in the group, three more than Sudan.
The Black Stars will travel to London on Sunday where they will face Nigeria in a friendly on Tuesday.
