The Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ben Koufie has left Accra for South Korea as the head of a three-member delegation to participate in the forthcoming FIFA congress. Mr. Koufie told newsmen at the Airport that Ghana has taken a firm decision on the choice of FIFA president but declined to name the candidate. The FIFA congress is expected to elect a new president and also deliberate on issues concerning the development of football.
He noted that the nation was tactful in selecting between the current FIFA President Mr. Sepp Blater, who is seeking another term and Mr. Issah Hayatou, President of the Confederation of African Football. The other members of the delegation are Mr. Kofi Nsiah and Mr. Sylvester Mensah of the GFA Secretariat.
In reaction to a question on the local league, Mr. Koufie described it as an interesting event even before it gathers momentum, saying, "it has been very competitive and I believe the second round would be very competitive." The GFA Chairman, however, cautioned against supporters(quote) indiscipline and hooliganism.
