Ghana To Play U.S.A In Hiroshima

Ghana u-20 national team will play U.S.A. in their opening match of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Japan 2012 on 20 august 2012 whilst Japan will play Mexico in the opening match of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Japan 2012 in Miyagi.

The Official Draw took place today, 4 June, at the Conrad Hotel in Tokyo. The draw was The tournament will be played in Miyagi, Saitama, Kobe, Hiroshima and Tokyo from 19 August to 8 September 2012.

The results of the draw, placed the Ghana ladies in group D, in Hiroshima that also includes Germany China ans USA.

The Ghanaians fought hard throughout the preliminary stages of qualifying for Japan 2012 and their efforts finally paid off as they sealed one of two African spots at the world finals. The first hurdle they had to jump en route to the Far East came in the form of Namibia. Following their crushing 7-0 victory in the opening game, Ghana confirmed their superiority with a 3-0 triumph in the return leg.

Next up was a formidable South Africa side, but Ghana refused to back down, dismissing their talented opponents with wins in both legs. Then, against Tunisia,The women team u-20 team also known as princesses once again marched to a lopsided victory as they claimed an impressive 7-2 aggregate win. The women u-20 have participated in one FIFA U-20 Womenâs World Cup to date, qualifying for the world finals for the first time at Germany 2010

With the U-20 side set to travel to Japan 2012 and the U-17 women’s team making their way to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup  in Azerbaijan, it is clear Ghana has made good on its pledge to raise the standard of women’s football in the country.
